Here at Google Cloud, we want to make HPC universally accessible and useful. At SC ‘19, we will have demos, hands-on Codelabs to practice, and share how we are making the journey to the cloud easier for everyone through speaking sessions by thought-leaders from Google, customers and our technology partners.

Google Cloud offers a wide variety of compute, networking, storage and file system options. It is easy for organizations to custom build their own tailor-made supercomputer on Google Cloud using hardware, software, and low-latency object and file storage.

HPC Impact Showcase | Combating traffic congestion using massive HPC analytics on Google Cloud
A study performed by TrafficVision and the Clemson DICE Lab, shows how over a million hours of highway video can be processed in the Google Cloud Platform requiring over a million concurrent vCPUs of processing.

This study involved reconstructing a petabyte-scale dataset of brain tissue , which was processed by distributing work across thousands of nodes and GPUs in the cloud. This process took approximately 1.5 months and results in a reconstruction with on the order of 10^5 neurons and 10^9 synapses. Manuel will present an overview of the computational reconstruction pipeline, with an emphasis on the use of distributed computing and storage.
